
	     Laser spine surgery is usually performed as an outpatient procedure. The surgery
	usually last 2-3 hours long depending on the number of levels being treated. The
	surgery can be performed under local anesthesia or under general anesthesia
	depending on patient preference as well as the surgical technique being performed.
	You will wake up in the recovery room if general anesthesia is employed.
	Recovery time in the immediate postoperative period is approximately 45 minutes
	to an hour depending on how long it takes for you to recover from the anesthesia.
	 
	     Your nurse will make sure that you have no weakness in your legs. The nursing
	team will walk you to the bathroom to make sure that you’re able to walk out
	assistance. If you walk using a cane or walker to walk before the surgery it is
	possible that we may recommend you to use the cane or walker after the surgery
	to your strength in the legs recover. After making sure that you are able to walk
	without assistance, the nursing team will take you to a step-down recovery unit
	where you’ll be asked to sit down in a comfortable chair. Usually, we recommend
	that he do not drive for the first week following the surgery as your legs may still
	not have full strength. After the first week, graduated activities is permitted and
	actually recommended.
